Bumrungrad International Hospital Foundation Programme:

One of the key initiatives of the charity isRak Jai Thai (Healing Hearts),which offers financially disadvantaged youngsters with congenital heart disease-free operations.

Every year, some 8,000 Thai children are affected by congenital cardiac disease, with half of them needing surgery. Many of these kids could die or suffer from serious health problems if they don't get surgery. While many of these kids can get the necessary cardiac procedures thanks to the government's current health insurance policy, the majority of them come from low-income homes.

However, the annual number of pediatric patients eligible for surgery remains restricted, despite government aid. Consequently, a significant number of children consistently await surgery, with this figure increasing annually. In response, the Bumrungrad International Hospital Foundation andBumrungrad International Hospitalare fulfilling their social responsibility by providing the necessary free cardiac procedures for these children.

These frequently extremely complex heart surgeries are performed by Bumrungrad's medical staff, who are proud to contribute their experience and knowledge while using cutting-edge medical technology.

Concerning impoverished children with congenital heart disease, the Rak Jai Thai program has performed over 820 heart surgeries since 2003 (as of August 1, 2021). Each procedure costs 750,000 baht on average.

Concerning the price of these surgeries, the program covers all aspects of the patient's treatment, from diagnostics to surgery to additional hospital fees. The program also covers the cost of travel, meals, and lodging for parents or guardians. This ensures that families experiencing financial difficulties can bring their loved ones to Bumrungrad for treatment.

Bumrungrad Mobile Clinic Services in Bangkok:

Volunteer Bumrungrad medical staff have been offering free care to people in the broader Bangkok area, including 25 towns. Services have been provided five days a week, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Thomson Fund, the Bumrungrad Hospital Foundation, and Bumrungrad International Hospital collaborated to create the Mobile Clinic. Since 2001, the Mobile Clinic has serviced more than 100,000 patients, the majority of whom are elderly.

*Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021, the Mobile Clinic has been temporarily suspended.

Project to Support Mukdahan Villagers:

TheBumrungrad International HospitalFoundation and Bumrungrad International Hospital have been assisting the villagers of Mukdahan Province's Nikhom Kham Soi and Khamcha-i Districts by purchasing hand-woven wicker baskets to display toiletries in Bumrungrad's inpatient areas. This initiative is a collaboration between Bumrungrad International Hospital, Bangkok Insurance Foundation, and Bumrungrad Hospital Foundation.

Higher-quality wicker items were developed in a short period of time, becoming more detailed and even more beautiful, and catching the public's attention. These items are also being produced in larger quantities. Bumrungrad has been assisting the residents of these towns in maintaining a stable income and a higher standard of living. And, more significantly, to help keep this basket making heritage alive.

Sponsoring Medical Treatments:

The foundation sponsors treatments for underprivileged patients who require surgical procedures but cannot cover the costs (depending on specific projects that are carried out by the foundation during the year).

Educating the Public About Health:

TheBumrungrad International HospitalFoundation and Bumrungrad International Hospital are committed to spreading health education and other important health-related information as a community service. This comprises health-promoting activities for students in the community, health exhibitions, disease information dissemination, and public awareness of medical developments. This material is disseminated via Bumrungrad's channels as well as other public ones.
